Nibedita Chakravarty from Kolkata writes to Kolahal Travel Guide: My husband and I visited Bakkhali during Jan 28-30, 2015. I must compliment the WBTDC collective at Bakkhali and Kolahal / WIND OZ for their superb services which surpassed our imagination (normally critical of Govt concerns). The room was absolutely clean along with the linens. Toilet was sparkling and Geyser was functioning perfectly. We did not use the AC as there was no need. Food was fresh and hot with clean crockeries served in a very well maintained restaurant. Cost however was on the higher side but we were willing to pay for the excellent quality. House staff were very courteous and cooperative right from the security personnel at gate, the gardener, reception staff and other attendants. This once again proves that an organisation is as good as its people. Please keep up the good work. I suggested few improvements in the feed back form. The only problem (though not your issue) is the reliability of bus service from Kolkata. I was informed cancellation of one of the two available morning buses is a common affair. We faced the problem on return. |

Siddhartha Paul from Kolkata writes to Kolahal Travel Guide: Date of visit: 20th April 2013 The Tourist Lodge has been built in an exquisite way. Before heading for the trip we had taken the information from the WBTDC if there is any accommodation available for 5 people. They informed that we can take the dormitory with 8 beds @ Rs 150/bed/night. After reaching there we came to know that the charge is Rs 282/bed/night and that we would have to take all 8 beds. So a total of Rs 2256 was charged. On enquiring about the Rs 150 charge they said the rate had been revised which the people from Kolkata Head office may not be knowing. Also heard that the dormitory will soon get discontinued and only AC rooms will be available. Otherwise the staff members of the lodge were very cooperative. We started at 5:30 AM on 20th April and reached the lodge at about 11:30 AM as 1 hour and 45 minutes were lost in the long queue of Jetty crossing. We preferred to have our lunch and dinner outside the lodge as it was a bit expensive compared to restaurants outside. Fish was expensive as fishing remains closed during these months of the year till the monsoon as this is the peak breeding time of the fishes. The Fraserganj fish harbour was a devastated area due to this. There were very few tourists there at this time but the crowd was a decent one unlike that of Digha. Both the days were more or less cloudy. Hence spent a wonderful weekend trip. |
