Neel Nirjaney is indeed a lovely retreat. The hotel staff is very courteous. The cottage rooms are sea facing but you can't see the sea until you come out of your room.
I stayed in the first floor of the building (not the cottages). This room was the most expensive, but you could see the sea from the bed and the verandah. The view was awesome and you could just spend hours sitting in the balcony. The amenities in the room were plenty. The TV and the AC were brand new and hence ensured the comfort. The major drawback in the room was the damped walls.
The food in the Palki restaurant was average. The Indian food is tasty, but please don't try the Chinese stuff. The Chinese dishes are far from being Chinese. There is no intercom facility in the room, ensure that you take the mobile number of the manager or better the room service guy so that you can call them directly for whatever you require.
You get 24 hrs electricity and 20 hrs of air conditioning.
Suggestions for improvement: Ensure timely cleaning of the rooms and the bathrooms. The bathroom was ignored on both the days of the stay. Please try to improve the quality of the food cooked.

I had a Mandarmani tour from 14.02.11 to 16.02.11 with my small family (wife & child). Sharing my experience very briefly.
It is a very calm & quiet tourist place ever, as per my experience, specially in the week days. I did not book any hotel from here but had a target to stay in Neel Nirjane, as the name was very familiar to me. I did not make any mistake to choose the same as we have enjoyed a lot in this hotel. Good room, good service, good food, 24 hours generator service (still now there is no electricity), mind blowing garden, children's park, attractive restaurant, well behavior of staffs. But the most attractive place of this hotel is the common balcony with the seating and table arrangement just on the sea beach from where we had the heavenly feelings with the complete sea view in a handshake distance.
Mandarmani is very expensive, but far better than Digha & Bakkhali. The road is now good from Chaulkhola to Mandarmani.
Suggestions for the hotel:
- 1) little difficult to get the hotel identity from the outside, so that one big, prominent board to be fixed just outside the hotel or upon the main gate.
- 2) Reception is the main part of a hotel, so it should be well decorated and should not be inside the restaurant. One small independent reception can be made on a little portion of vacant land.

Excellent place to visit for a short trip on any weekend. The good features of this resort include location, rooms, behaviour of staff, quality of service, excellent food. The sit out is awesome from where you can get a great view of the sea.
