We arrived at Lava, WBFDC, from Kalimpong by a hired car.
The room and bathroom at WBFDC were clean but need maintenance further. The food was really good. The resort staff members were polite and courteous.

I am very pleased to tell you that we had a wonderful time in Lava WBFDC.
This was my second visit to the WBFDC resort. I had come earlier around 4 years back. The rooms and toilets were clean. Food was very good in the canteen.The staff members were well behaved and extremely helpful.
From the WBFDC Resort to the entrance of Neora Valley it hardly takes around 10 minutes walking, but till the Neora Valley checkpost it should take around a whole day by walking or 2 hours by a vehicle. We paid Rs 3000 for one day as per the taxi union rate. They have a chart which list down the charges to various locations starting from Lava.
We arrived at Lava from Latpanchor.
I would like to make one suggestion.
Most of the people who come to Lava are bird watchers and come mainly for Neora Valley. Since birders need to start early it was difficult to get breakfast. As the canteen opens at 7 A.M. we had to leave without breakfast.
If this point is taken care of then the rest is heaven for wildlife lovers.

Pros
- Best in Lava
- Awesome View
- Facilities are nice. Service is ok
- Good food. Otherwise, there are very few options outside
- The resort area, the room and the bathroom are clean.
- Availability of Hot Water is OK
- Very good Internet network connection
- We stayed in Gorkha Cottage. It is downhill. So going up & down was tiring. And specially challenging for older guests.
- Mineral water bottles are not available.
- A TV is not available in the room.
- Nothing much to do in free time.
- The condition of the road to Lava is horrible.

We stayed at Lava Nature Resort for one night. We had taken 2 cottages...Hill Myna (1 & 2). For me, the experience in Lava was simply Wow!! A small village surrounded by pine forest all around made it look like a serene virgin beauty. And, our cottages added that extra cherry on the cake. The cottages were amidst pine forest with nobody around...a perfect silent environment to enjoy nature at its best.
The cottages were good except a little problem with the room service as very few people stay around. The food was good. The electricity service is not constant as twice we faced loadshedding for quite some time. But it was not a big problem because the moon shone so brightly that we enjoyed the moonlight.
The only suggestion is the people appointed for room service must keep matchboxes with them. So that they can provide it to us to light the candles. As we went in March, it was pretty cold and drizzled. But, overall we had a good experience and I would like to visit Lava again and stay in the WBFDC Lava Nature Resort.

My stay at WBFDC, Lava, was excellent. The resort was clean and people in charge there were friendly.
The view of the mountain range from the resort was great. As I went to Lava on the last week of November, I was able to avoid excess tourist crowd.
I would recommend Lava and WBFDC to my friends to enjoy the natural beauty of the place. The cottage we stayed was good (Gorkha 4) with 24 hours hot water supply.
Only one thing which I think lacked during my stay at WBFDC was a television in the cottage. During evening the television would be a great mode of entertainment.
