Kalimpong Tourist Lodge (Morgan House)
"The deluxe double bedded room is the one with three windows at the top of Morgan House. What is also nice is it has windows facing the mountains as well so very bright and airy. I stayed in this room. I saw the mountains the afternoon I arrived but not in the two mornings I was there as there were clouds.
There is only one deluxe double bedded room. It is Room Number 1, the pick of the rooms."

We enjoyed our stay at Morgan House very much. However, there are certain issues that need addressing if you are going to attract repeat business or attract more foreigners.
The room and the bathroom were clean enough, but would have benefited from a more thorough daily clean. The stairs were dirty and I overheard more than one guest complaining about it. The carpets need the attention of a carpet shampoo machine - check out Amazon India - plus daily attention of a vacuum cleaner. Sweeping is not enough.
The staff were always polite and helpful and courteous.
We arrived at Morgan House from Pelling via a private taxi.
The food was always very good and perfectly seasoned and served nicely.
I understand it is hard to get good European standard bread in India but the toast was always too chewy.
It came as a disappointment to see that the staff disposed of the garbage by throwing it down the hill from the bottom of the garden. The garden itself could do with more tender loving care - it looked neglected.
The location is very good and we enjoyed the atmosphere in the house.

Extra Person Charge:
An extra person can stay in a double-bed room in every WBTDC lodge. The extra person charge is 20% of room tariff without a cot. The extra person charge is 30% of room tariff with a cot. The extra person charge is taxable at the same rate as the room tariff. The extra person charge is payable at the time of check-in/check-out. Room tax is paid at the same time. Your WBTDC booking document will not contain any information about the extra person. |
