Dates of visit: December 16, 2014 - December 17, 2014

From Malbazar Railway Station the Tourist Lodge is only 10 minutes walking distance. Auto van is also available from the station. They will reach by 5 minutes.
The rooms in the lodge are clean. The food is very good. The lodge staff are very helpful.
The condition of the brick rooms is not at all satisfactory. The geysers are not working properly in some rooms. Some rooms do not have adequate light.
The wooden rooms are excellent and cheap. The brick rooms are inferior.

From Malbazar Tourist Lodge, on December 16, 2014, I visited Murti River Valley, Paren, Meteli, Samsing and Suntaleykhola. I also visited the WBFDC Guest House at Suntaleykhola.

From Malbazar Tourist Lodge, on December 17, 2014, I visited Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary, Jaldhaka Hydroelectric Project, Jhalong and Bindu.

I also visited Jaldapara, Buxa Tiger Reserve and Chilapata forest.

Gorumara Wildlife Sanctuary was closed because of an elephant census at the time of visit. So I was not able to visit Gorumara Wildlife Sanctuary.

To visit the places mentioned above from Malbazar, I hired a private vehicle from Mr. Bipul Biswas. For the first day his charge was Rs 1000. For the second day his charge was Rs 1800. A photograph of the car and the driver is given below.

This car can be hired for a reasonable charge from Mr. Bipul Biswas of Malbazar to visit the places mentioned above by Mr. Adak.
The driver of the car is photographed in front of the car.

Arka from New York writes to Kolahal Travel Guide:
Date of visit: 23rd December 1988

The picture of the Malbazar Tourist Lodge rushed home tons of sweet memories associated with my childhood. Growing up in Siliguri during the 80\'s and 90\'s, we visited Malbazar couple of times. Malbazar was an hour of train-ride away from Siliguri on the metere-gauge dooars railroad, meandering through dense forest, chugging along the Himalayas and lush-green tea gardens. The journey was as much fun as the destination itself. Lot have changed since. There has been extension buildings on either side of the old wooden building that still has the Bar sign on it. Wish I could go back again to Malbazar !!
